The Commercial Imagery Group Archive & Retrieval Support System (CIGARSS) is a family of applications. The Augmented Geospatial Product Library (GPL) System (AGS) is one of these applications. CIGARSS is being developed under contract to the U.S. Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) Information Directorate. The CIGARSS product information site is access restricted to the U.S. Government and its contractors.

Augmented GPL System (AGS)

The Augmented GPL System (AGS) enhances the existing Geospatial Product Library (GPL). The GPL is:

  • An extensive library of NGA and USAF digital geospatial products (CIB, CADRG and DTED).
  • Used by a large portion of the U.S. Air Force mission planning community.

AGS augments the existing GPL systems by:

  • Supporting updates of GPL data in both FalconView PFPS and NGA defined data formats.
  • Providing networked and non-networked interactions between GPL systems.
  • Reinforcing a uniform GPL data structure across all installations.
  • Significantly reducing data storage requirements.

AGS ensures data integrity in a secure environment by providing:

  • Secure communications through swappable ID tokens (GCards).
  • Security logging and activity reporting.
  • Product verification prior to ingest.

AGS offers a user-friendly environment and ease of maintenance for GPL systems by providing:

  • Significant process automation.
  • Automated data product ingestion.
  • Automated software updates.
  • A user-friendly GUI.
  • Map-based product queries.
  • Easy extensibility for new data types.

AGS development is sponsored by AFRL/IFEC and AF/XOIRY in support of the Master Geospatial Product Library maintained by the Air Force 480th IW/36th IS and is also ACC accredited.
